The Italian central bank, Banca d'Italia, has called for the full implementation of existing obligations regarding sanctions screening of cryptocurrency transfers. The bank reminded crypto asset service providers (CASPs) that they must use internal controls to ensure compliance with European Union and Italian financial sanctions when processing transfers. The aim of the practice is to identify transfers linked to individuals on sanctions lists.
