Israeli military official says one soldier killed in Lebanon after vehicle overturned
Two separate operational accidents result in the deaths of an Israeli soldier in Lebanon and a civilian contractor in Gaza.
- Master Sgt. Basil Sweid, 32, of the 7th Armored Brigade, died Wednesday in southern Lebanon after his truck overturned during operational activity, the Israeli military confirmed Thursday.
- Separately Wednesday, civilian contractor Raad Abu al-Qian, 49, from Hura, died in the Gaza Strip when a mosque minaret collapsed onto his excavator during demolition work in Beit Lahia.
- The Israeli army has recorded 30 soldiers killed since March 2, while Lebanon's Health Ministry reported 4,230 killed and 12,179 wounded during the same period.
- On Thursday, two Israeli drone strikes killed six people in Lebanon's Nabatieh district, with strikes near Zawtar and Maifadoun each killing three, according to the National News Agency.
- Hezbollah and Lebanon reject any Israeli "freedom of action," with the Loyalty to the Resistance parliamentary bloc demanding unconditional withdrawal, arguing conditions would undermine national sovereignty.
