Is a word limit on comments required?

Yesterday's blogs created a phenomenal number of comments. I was officially on a day off (I saw spoonbill, kingfisher, willow warbler, garden warbler, stonechat and more). But that said, despite four to five hours of effort, it took me until mid-evening to clear comments that had come in, some of them many hours before. Let me put this in context.
