Healy Claims Bronze Medal at World Championships
Healy claimed bronze after a 267km race on high-altitude hills, improving from seventh last year and joining three other Irish World Championships medalists, officials said.
- Irish cyclist Ben Healy secured the bronze medal in the men's cycling event at the World Championships held on Sunday, 28 September 2025, in Kigali, Rwanda.
- Healy's podium finish followed a challenging 267.5km race marked by mountainous terrain, high altitude, and a solo attack from defending champion Tadej Pogacar that shattered the field.
- Healy joined a trio chasing Pogacar along with Remco Evenepoel and Mattias Skjelmose, made a decisive move with just over 5km to go, and dropped Skjelmose to secure third place.
- Healy expressed how meaningful it was to reach the podium alongside Remco and Tadej after putting in significant effort, especially as only 30 riders managed to finish under such challenging conditions.
- Healy became the fourth Irish rider to medal in the Elite Men’s Road Race, highlighting his rising status after a strong season including a Tour de France stage win and time in the yellow jersey.
