Iranian National Charged with Illegal Export of Electronics to Iran
LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA, JUL 12 – Bahram Mohammad Ostovari used two UAE front companies to export controlled electronics to Iran from 2018 to 2025, violating U.S. sanctions designed to counter nuclear and terror threats.
- Bahram Mohammad Ostovari, a 66-year-old lawful U.S. permanent resident, was arrested on July 10, 2025, at Los Angeles International Airport for allegedly exporting electronics to Iran.
- The arrest followed an indictment unsealed on July 11, 2025, charging Ostovari with conspiring to and violating U.S. sanctions by exporting controlled electronic items without authorization.
- Ostovari, who leads an engineering company located in Tehran known as Company A, operated two front companies based in the UAE to secretly export computer processors and railway signaling equipment to Iran from May 2018 through July 2025.
- According to the U.S. Attorney's Office, Ostovari knew of U.S. sanctions and directed co-conspirators to provide false information regarding the end use of goods, facing up to 20 years in prison per count if convicted.
- Ostovari pleaded not guilty, was released on a $1.3 million bond, and faces a trial scheduled for September 2, 2025, indicating ongoing legal proceedings for serious federal violations.
