Iran says card-based banking hit by cyberattack on three lenders
Iranian banks experienced a cyberattack that disrupted ATMs, terminals, and mobile apps linked to card systems, affecting card-based banking services at Bank Melli, Bank Saderat, Bank Tejarat, and the Export Development Bank of Iran.
The cyberattack occurred shortly after Donald Trump mentioned that frozen funds would be returned to the Islamic Republic.
Customers faced service interruptions, causing banks to suspend card operations to prevent unauthorized access.
Disruptions were reported starting June 14 and lasted several days according to banking technology providers.
