Iran retaliates across Middle East after U.S. restarts blockade
Iran struck U.S. bases and tankers after American airstrikes, and the fighting raised oil prices to a one-month high, officials said.
The U.S. launched strikes on Iran after President Donald Trump vowed to reinstate an American blockade of Iranian ports and charge ships for safe passage through the Strait of Hormuz.
Iran responded with attacks on Middle East allies of the U.S., targeting Bahrain, Jordan and three tankers that traveled through the strait.
The interim deal meant to pause the fighting and reopen the crucial Strait of Hormuz has been left in tatters, engulfing the region in fighting and threatening the global economy.
