Two People Killed Following Serious Crash on Route 6 in Dartmouth
The driver and passenger of a Toyota Camry were pronounced dead, while two people in the other sedan suffered non-life-threatening injuries, officials said.
On Friday night, a head-on crash on Route 6 near the Westport-Dartmouth line left two people dead and two others injured. Police responded around 7:35 p.m.
Bristol County District Attorney Thomas M. Quinn III identified the deceased as Tristan Bedient, 34, of Acushnet, and Kate Aldrich, 51, of New Bedford. Their Toyota Camry sustained what investigators described as "catastrophic damage."
Two occupants of the SAAB sedan involved in the crash sustained non-life-threatening injuries. Prosecutors have not released the names of the survivors.
The Massachusetts State Police Detective Unit is leading the investigation alongside Dartmouth and Westport Police. Route 6 remained closed between Route 177 and Highland Avenue for a "significant amount of time," authorities said.
Investigators continue to examine the crash scene near Noquochoke Lake to determine the cause. The collision remains under active investigation as authorities process the site.
