Tragic Incident: Mother Allegedly Kills Toddler in Thiruvananthapuram
Police detained Christy after her one-and-a-half-year-old daughter died from a deep neck injury, and investigators are examining possible domestic and mental health factors.
- On Thursday, Christy, a mother, allegedly killed her one-and-a-half-year-old daughter, Anna, by slitting her throat inside their home in Moolaman, Vilavoorkal, Thiruvananthapuram. Malayinkeezhu police detained Christy following the discovery.
- Family members became concerned when the pair did not emerge from their room after lunch. Relatives knocked repeatedly, eventually finding Christy, who reportedly told them she had killed the child.
- Malayinkeezhu Station House Officer led the police team that took Christy into custody. Investigators are examining whether domestic disputes or potential mental health ailments prompted the alleged act.
- Neighbors rushed Anna to a primary health centre and then to Thiruvananthapuram Medical College Hospital, where she died from her neck injuries. Local residents protested against Christy at the scene.
- During interrogation, Christy reportedly claimed she killed Anna because she disliked others cuddling the child. She also alleged that Abhijith, the father, and his grandmothers, Neshamma and Jaseentha, would have poisoned her.
