Indra to Make Spanish Variant of Amphibious Vehicle Used by US Marines
Indra will fit mission systems on 34 vehicles and deliver troop transport, command, recovery and ambulance variants for Spain's military.
- Spanish defense firm Indra has signed a contract to lead integration on 34 Marine Infantry Amphibious Combat Vehicle units supplied by IDV for the Spanish Ministry of Defence, based on the SUPERAV 8x8 platform.
- The SUPERAV platform serves as the base for the United States Marine Corps Amphibious Combat Vehicle and Italy's Veicolo Blindato Anfibio , establishing proven operational capability across multiple militaries.
- Frank Torres, Managing Director of Indra Land Vehicles, declared the collaboration "will constitute a decisive step" in equipping the Spanish Marine Infantry with four variants: Troop Transport, Command, Control, Recovery, and Ambulance.
- Integration work including mission system installation and validation will occur at Indra's facilities in Spain, following IDV's sale to defense giant Leonardo for $1.9 billion last year.
