Indian-Origin Former Google Employee Shot Dead by Husband in US' Georgia; Son Survives
Police said the shooting stemmed from a domestic dispute and left the couple’s 23-year-old son critically injured.
On Tuesday, Google engineering manager Sheetal Wrzesien was killed at her home on Laurel Creek Trail in Smyrna, Georgia, while her 23-year-old son, Jason Wrzesien, suffered critical gunshot injuries during the domestic violence incident.
Investigators stated the shooting followed a domestic dispute at the family's residence; Jason had returned home shortly before 8 pm and discovered his parents arguing before he was shot in the back while attempting to flee for help.
Sheetal was a senior engineering manager at Google with more than 20 years of experience. A Georgia Tech alumna, she served on the Advisory Board of the Georgia Tech College and the Georgia Tech Alumni Association Board of Trustees.
Police arrested her husband, Kirk Wrzesien, 56, who faces charges including felony murder, two counts of aggravated assault, and two counts of possession of a firearm during the commission of a felony.
Kirk is being held without bond at the Cobb County Adult Detention Center while authorities confirmed there is no ongoing threat to the public. Jason remains in critical condition following emergency surgery.
