India to Launch National Deep Water Exploration Mission: PM Modi

On August 15, 2025, Prime Minister Narendra Modi announced the National Deep Water Exploration Mission from the Red Fort, termed `Samudra Manthan` and to be executed in Mission Mode.

The mission will enhance understanding of deep-sea ecosystems, support sustainable fisheries and biodiversity conservation, and follow UN guidelines for deep-sea activities.
