Heavy rain and thunderstorms during Thursday's opening round caused a five-hour delay, forcing Luiten to complete 34 holes on Friday before fading light halted play again.
England's Eddie Pepperell and Todd Clements sit one shot back at seven under par after completing their rounds, while Rory McIlroy remains at four under par, tied for 17th, bidding for his eighth Race to Dubai title.
Play will restart at 02:45 BST on Saturday to clear the backlog. All Irish competitors, including McIlroy and Tom McKibbin, failed to complete their rounds before suspension.
