India calls out lies and falsehoods peddled by Pakistan at UN
India said Pakistan cannot hide behind nuclear threats and warned that any future terrorist attack will draw a strong response.
On Friday, October 9, 2026, Indian diplomat Anmol Sher Singh Bedi delivered a sharp rebuke at the United Nations General Assembly's First Committee, asserting New Delhi will "not bow" to nuclear blackmail regarding terror attacks.
Bedi argued that regional crises follow a "recurring pattern: first, provocation; second, denial of responsibility; and third, appeals for restraint," while emphasizing India's nuclear capabilities remain strictly defensive.
Following the Pahalgam terror attack, in which 26 people were killed, India launched Operation Sindoor in May 2025 to target terror infrastructure; New Delhi has held the Indus Waters Treaty in abeyance.
Regarding nuclear proliferation, Bedi urged global suppliers to exercise vigilance, noting the AQ Khan network previously provided "one stop shopping' for countries seeking to develop nuclear weapons."
Separately, in the Fourth Committee, Parliament member Mahima Kumari Mewar criticized Islamabad for "peddling lies and falsehoods" about Jammu and Kashmir, declaring the region remains "integral and inalienable" to India.
