Beledweyne -- Somali National Army forces, backed by local clan militias known as Macwiisley, are reportedly organizing a major offensive against Al-Shabaab positions in the Middle Shabelle region.
The Islamist insurgents regained 90% of the territories they had lost in 2022-2023. For its part, the government has to deal with a demoralized army and impatient donors.
