Mahadev App: CBI Arrests Key Accused Abhishek Kumar After He Arrives From Dubai

- On Thursday, the Central Bureau of Investigation arrested Abhishek Kumar at Rajiv Gandhi International Airport in Hyderabad shortly after he arrived from Dubai, identifying him as an alleged kingpin in the Mahadev Betting App case.
- The Chhattisgarh government transferred 13 FIRs to the CBI, which assumed control of the investigation into the Mahadev Online Betting Application, a scheme allegedly generating ₹80,000 crore in proceeds since 2019.
- Investigators seized incriminating material from Kumar indicating his active role in coordinating betting panels and collecting funds while working closely with main accused Saurabh Chandrakar and Shubham Soni.
- Following his arrest, a local court in Hyderabad granted Kumar a three-day transit remand; he was subsequently moved to Raipur, where a court sanctioned two days of police custody.
- The CBI has filed eight charge sheets against 100 accused persons and continues efforts to extradite main promoters, with seven Red Corner Notices and two extradition proposals currently active.
