It is at the end of the summer that the glacier of Grande Motte, in Tignes, melts the most. Consequence: the glacial lake of Rosolin formed at its foot in 2019 and filled with water under the influence of the successive heats of 2022. In order to avoid a disaster scenario of flow on Tignes and Champagny-en-Vanoise below, the expanse of cold water is drained and scientific studies are conducted to assess the risks.
On 3 August, Tignes City Hall hosted a panel of journalists to take a step-by-step look at the work to secure the ice lake of Rosolin. One of the examples of a phenomenon accelerated by global warming, which is a challenge for scientists and elected officials.
