In Germany, Microsoft programs are being deleted from computers. In the interest of "digital sovereignty" in the Trump era

The German state of Schleswig-Holstein is removing Microsoft's Word, Excel and Outlook office programs from the computers of public administration employees. One of the reasons is allegedly "the aggressive and unpredictable policies of US President Donald Trump and the technology giants in the US". They are to be replaced with open source software.

It is the Digital Services Act (DSA), the AI Act and the GDPR that are targeted. In short: legislation regulating data confidentiality and the protection of privacy in Europe. Already of concern under the previous administration, the situation is all the more so at a time when the geopolitical context is deteriorating. In total, 92% of European data are hosted in the United States.
