EADaily, March 26th, 2025. In Hamburg, Germany, they tried to blow up the modern Moorburg coal-fired power plant, the construction of which cost 3 billion euros. However, the demolition did not go according to plan — the explosives worked only in one of the two boiler rooms.

The combined heat and power plant in Hamburg-Moorburg was one of the most modern and efficient coal-fired power plants in the world. Developed after the nuclear phase-out, it had all the components needed to reliably supply the Hanseatic city with electricity and heat for decades. But it never came to that. After just six years, the dismantling of the €3 billion power plant began.
