Immigrant ICE searched for in Texas when agent hit man with car has been dead for years: Report
ICE faces scrutiny after officials say the man in its wanted photo died in 2017, while Harris County investigators review Parra-Hernandez’s injury.
On October 10, ICE agents in Texas struck pedestrian Miguel Parra Hernandez with an SUV while attempting to arrest Jose Mendoza-Cervantes, who has been dead since 2017.
ICE issued a "wanted" poster for Mendoza-Cervantes after the collision, but the man's daughter identified the photo as her father, Hector Jimenez Mendoza, who died in 2017.
Harris County District Attorney Sean Teare, a Democrat, said it is "pretty obvious" from videos that ICE intentionally struck and ran over Parra, while ICE stated allegations are "RECKLESS and FALSE."
A senior Department of Homeland Security official told NBC News on Thursday that the officer driving the vehicle has been placed on administrative leave, as Teare considers a grand jury referral next week.
Cesar Espinosa, leader of FIEL Houston, called on ICE "to tell the truth" and release body camera footage, describing the deceased man's image use as "beyond mind-blowing.
