A court in Moscow sentenced Ukrainian journalist Yanina Sokolovskaya in absentia to seven and a half years in prison, accused of spreading “fakes” about the Russian army motivated by political hatred (article 207.3, paragraph 2 (d), of the Criminal Code). She was also banned from administering websites for four years, according to the Moscow Prosecutor's Office.
Sokolovsky was also banned from administering sites in Russia for four years.
Russia opened a criminal case under the article on “fakes” about the Russian army against Maria Smorzhevsky-Smirnova, director of the Estonian Museum in Narva, and in January 2025 she was arrested in absentia. The reason was a poster with the words “Putin is a war criminal” on the museum wall. Maria said she is proud of her arrest
