Illegal cigarettes, luxury car and Canberra homes seized in massive cross-border sting

A Chinese organised crime syndicate, allegedly behind illicit tobacco, was dismantled. More than $5 million in alleged proceeds of crime were restrained.

In Dilovası district of Kocaeli, gendarmerie teams searched two vehicles they stopped at the checkpoint and seized fake wallets belonging to famous brands with a market value of about 8 million TL, heated electronic cigarette tobacco, contraband cigarettes and electronic cigarettes. Two suspects have been arrested in connection with the incident.
