Israel military spokesperson, who was rebuked by defence chiefs, steps down
Rear-Admiral Daniel Hagari, the chief spokesman of the Israeli military, will retire in the coming weeks, as announced on March 7 by the army.
Hagari became well-known for daily media briefings during the conflict with Hamas, which began in October 2023.
The Israeli military stated that Hagari served in a professional and devoted manner during one of the most complex wars in Israel's history.
Hagari led the elite Shayetet 13 naval special forces before becoming the military's chief spokesman, providing frequent updates during critical events.
Daniel Hagari has commanded Kampfschwimmer, studied philosophy and declared war on Hamas in the Gaza Strip to the world of Israel. Now he abdicates. The new Chief of General Staff wants to do so and probably also the government.
Since the beginning of the war between Israel and Hamas, military spokesman Hagari has appeared daily in the press. Now he will resign. Recently, he was in trouble with the government with criticism of a law project.
