Dead Driver IDed After Semi-Truck Plummets Off Delaware Memorial Bridge

NEW CASTLE COUNTY, DELAWARE, JUL 14 – Zair Murzakov, 35, lost control causing his tractor to cross three lanes and crash into a concrete wall before plunging into the river, officials said.

  • Early Friday morning, a Bobtail tractor crossed three lanes of traffic on the Delaware Memorial Bridge southbound span, crashed through a concrete barrier, and entered the Delaware River, Delaware River and Bay Authority said.
  • Delaware River and Bay Authority officials said on Monday that they identified Zair Murzakov, 35, of Brooklyn, while also noting the tractor cab registered to XFR8 LLC of West Chester Township, Ohio.
  • On July 12, DRBA delayed recovery operations due to water and tide conditions, then Jim Salmon said the cab was located at about 10:45 a.m., and the Hurst tool was used to extract the driver.
