Iconic fashion chain plots comeback two years after disappearing from high streets
Authentic Brands Group says the store will open soon as Ted Baker rebuilds its UK presence after 46 shops closed and hundreds lost jobs.
Authentic Brands Group plans to open Ted Baker's first new standalone UK store later this year, nearly two years after all 46 locations closed following the collapse of No Ordinary Designer Label.
Founded in Glasgow in 1988, Ted Baker operated around 550 stores and concessions worldwide at its peak before the 2024 closures ended its 36-year presence on the high street.
Before the standalone launch, the brand began returning to physical retail through boutique concessions in Selfridges, with recent openings at Selfridges Birmingham in the Bullring and the Trafford Centre in Manchester.
Following the 2024 shutdowns, Authentic Brands Group relaunched the Ted Baker UK website in November, resuming online sales of menswear, womenswear, and accessories while searching for a new operating partner.
A spokesman for Authentic Brands Group said the first standalone store will open "very soon," marking a significant milestone in the brand's recovery within the UK market.
