Man Bitten by Eastern Massasauga Rattlesnake in Commerce Township
Daniel Case was given antivenom after the bite and suffered a seizure, then returned to A&E days later with ongoing chest pain and palpitations.
- On June 25, Daniel Case, 45, of Tintagel, north Cornwall, suffered a venomous snakebite after discovering a two-foot adder hiding beneath his sofa in his rural cottage.
- Case felt a "shooting pain" in his right foot while rising from his seat, discovering a "whopping great adder" with "very solid black and green" scales latched to his foot.
- Rushed to Derriford Hospital, Case received antivenom through a cannula at 8.30pm but suffered a seizure "as soon as the cannula came out" and remained hospitalized overnight.
- Case continues to experience persistent pain and swelling in his foot and leg; doctors evaluated him for compartment syndrome and blood clots, though neither developed.
- To prevent future encounters, Case shielded his windows and doors with heavy fly netting, saying "I'm very conscious of where I put my feet, even in the house at the minute.

Novi man bitten by rattlesnake at Proud Lake Boat Launch
