Jean-Paul Gaychet died on 26 October 2019, killed by accident during a wild boar hunt in Varilhes, Ariège. On 24 June 2025, the judicial court in Foix handed down its decision: the author of the fatal shot was sentenced to two years' suspended imprisonment.
The Foix Correctional Court, which held its deliberations on Tuesday, ordered, inter alia, the withdrawal of the shooter's hunting permit for three years and the prohibition of the possession of a weapon.
