On the morning of the 2nd, a flock of 21 Lesser Frigatebirds, a rare vagrant bird in Okinawa Prefecture, was spotted flying over Kiyan, Itoman City. Masakuni Yamashiro (63), chairman of the Okinawa Wild Bird Society, expressed his surprise, saying, "There have been no previous reports of such a large number arriving simultaneously in the prefecture. This is likely the largest number of birds to arrive in Japan."
