A retaining wall that was to support I-295 lanes being built a part of NJ DOT’s $900 million Direct Connect project that collapsed in March 2021 is nearing completion. Reconstruction of the concrete portion of the structure known as Wall 22 in Bellmawr was completed earlier this month and work is underway to complete the (bridge) abutment, said Stephen Schapiro, an NJDOT spokesperson. That work is expected to be completed this summer, he said.
