One of the most significant evacuation operations in recent years has entered a safe phase, with the government bringing home 87 Hungarians and one American citizen from the Middle East, the Minister of Foreign Affairs and Trade announced in Budapest on Tuesday. Péter Szijjártó thanked the diplomats who participated in the operation.
Following careful planning, the government evacuated six Hungarian citizens from Iran and, in parallel, suspended the local operations of the embassy in Tehran until security conditions improve, the ministry said in a statement. The minister reported that the fighting in the Middle East is becoming increasingly serious, which is why several Hungarian citizens living in Iran have asked the government to evacuate them.
