Search Launched for Passenger Reported Overboard From Cruise Ship
HM Coastguard deployed helicopters, lifeboats and rescue teams as about 1,000 passengers were held on board during the search.
On Friday, HM Coastguard launched a search for a male passenger reported missing from the Ambition cruise ship approximately 36 nautical miles east of Arbroath, Scotland.
Ambassador Cruise Lines reported the captain raised the alarm after discovering a guest was "not where they were expected to be" while traveling from Lerwick, Shetland, following a two-week tour of Iceland and the Faroe Islands.
Around 1,000 passengers remained on board while authorities coordinated rescue efforts involving a Coastguard helicopter, aeroplane, and RNLI lifeboats from Anstruther and Broughty Ferry. Several nearby vessels also assisted.
Following a thorough ship-wide search, the Ambition berthed in Dundee and guests were permitted to disembark at about 11:30 am. Police Scotland confirmed they were informed and are conducting an investigation.
Authorities continue coordinating response efforts alongside the Maritime Rescue Coordination Centre as the man remains missing. Ambassador stated they are unable to provide further details due to the ongoing Police investigation.
