There will be two new railway tunnels that intersect under the main train station. The train will run from Smíchov Station through the newly built Smíchov City, through the Karlovo náměstí, Václavské náměstí, Hlavní náměstí and Karlín stops to Krejcárek, where it will come to the surface. We will then be able to get off the train at Wenceslas Square. When? Around the middle of the century.
A train station under Wenceslas Square? That should be an everyday reality in 2047. The Railway Administration is showing ambitious plans for the Prague Railway Hub, a system of underground tunnels and railway stations beneath the metropolis. The plans for the 185 billion CZK Prague Railway Hub include an underground central station under the Main Railway Station, as well as tracks leading to Smíchov and Vršovice.
