PORSCHE has been the Volkswagen Group's main source of revenue for years and one of its most valuable brands.
German luxury sports car maker Porsche, once the Volkswagen Group's most reliable source of profit, is now its biggest burden. Porsche's original role in the group is being taken over by Skoda Auto, which is starting to emerge as a more profitable part of the group. "The Czech brand has effectively become the new Porsche of the entire group," German automotive analyst Matthias Schmidt told Reuters.
