Local cast members are staging the long-running drama as America 250 celebrations highlight the area’s settler history.
As Houston gears up to mark the nation's 250th anniversary this Fourth of July, celebrations include fireworks over Buffalo Bayou and community tree-planting events across the region.
In North Carolina, the Daniel Boone Amphitheater continues its long-running production, "Horn in the West," which shares the history of original area settlers through August 8.
Following the annual parade at 10 a.m., Decatur County residents plan to recreate a World War I-era photograph during their July 4 festivities to honor the milestone.
The Lone Star Flight Museum is showcasing Texas's role in American aviation history through its new "Made in Texas" exhibit, adding an educational dimension to the national milestone.
