Honda to recall over 259,000 US vehicles over brake pedal issue, NHTSA says
UNITED STATES, JUN 18 – Honda identified a brake pedal defect affecting 1% of over 259,000 recalled vehicles and will replace assemblies free of charge after production issues at a now-closed U.S. plant.
- Honda announced a recall on June 21, 2025, affecting over 259,000 U.S. vehicles due to a brake pedal defect in certain models.
- The recall comes after Honda’s April 2024 investigation identified that the brake pedal pivot pins were not correctly installed during production.
- The defect can cause the brake pedal to shift laterally, potentially hindering braking performance and increasing crash risk.
- The recall covers 184,253 Honda Pilots , 67,448 Acura MDXs , and 7,332 Acura TLXs , with only about 1% expected to have the issue.
- Honda will mail owner notification letters starting July 28, 2025, and offer free inspection and repair at dealerships, reimbursing prior related repair costs.
