FLORIDA, JUL 29 – Authorities arrested four suspects linked to a theft ring that stole semi-truck Engine Control Modules worth over $750,000, disrupting operations for 93 tractor operators, officials said.
- On July 29, 2025, the Hillsborough County Sheriff's Office announced the arrest of four suspects in an organized ECM theft ring, causing over $750,000 in damages.
- After receiving theft reports in May, a Hillsborough County Sheriff's Office detective noted more than 90 ECMs were stolen from semi-trucks across Hillsborough and Duval counties.
- Data show 93 truck owners suffered over $750,000 in theft and damages, with $404,668 stolen and $372,000 in repairs linked to suspects selling ECMs to a Texas broker.
