Apple Brings OpenAI’s GPT-5 to iOS and macOS

NO LOC, AUG 8 – ChatGPT powered by GPT-5 will enhance Apple Intelligence with features like Live Translation and Visual Intelligence while maintaining user privacy, Apple said.

  • OpenAI announced GPT-5 earlier today as its latest model that will power ChatGPT across multiple platforms, including Apple devices.
  • Apple plans to incorporate GPT-5 into its AI framework across the upcoming versions of its operating systems for iPhone, iPad, and Mac, which are anticipated to be released in the fall, around September or October.
  • The integration will allow ChatGPT to assist Siri by handling queries better suited to it and will enable new AI features across supported iPhones, iPads with A17 Pro or newer, and M1 or later Macs.
  • Apple integrates privacy safeguards for ChatGPT within Apple Intelligence, and new updates scheduled for release next month will enable these enhanced features.
  • This rollout suggests Apple will enhance AI capabilities across its ecosystem, but exact product eligibility and detailed user experience with GPT-5 integration remain unclear.
