LGBTQ+ hate crime reported on UNL’s campus
- UNLPD is investigating a hate crime that occurred on March 30, 2025, between 2:00 a.m. And 2:15 a.m. Outside Jorgensen Hall.
- The hate crime was motivated by bias against the LGBTQ+ community after an unknown man made derogatory comments.
- The suspect assaulted a member of a group walking on North 16th Street before fleeing on foot after the incident.
- Police describe the suspect as an 18-22-year-old white male with short brown hair, wearing a black T-shirt, jeans, and brown cowboy boots.
- The assault meets hate crime criteria under Nebraska law and the Clery Act, and the UNLPD was notified of the incident on Monday.
