(CNN) — The message from the highest court in the state of New York was clear last week: No matter who they are or how unpopular they might be, defendants are entitled to a fair trial.
The prosecutor’s office and the defence are ready to reopen the trial. Beforehand, the judge wants to clarify whether the witnesses also want to testify again.
The repeat trial against the former Hollywood movie producer, who is serving a 23-year prison sentence in a New York jail, will begin in September 2024.
Following the rescission of the verdict against Weinstein, the New York Public Prosecutor's Office wants to bring the case against him again.
