Harry Potter HBO Series Casts Peter Serafinowicz as Peeves the Poltergeist
The fan-favorite poltergeist returns as HBO’s series expands the story with a seven-season plan and a more faithful adaptation of J.K. Rowling’s books.
Peter Serafinowicz has been cast as Peeves the Poltergeist in HBO's Harry Potter series, bringing a fan-favorite character from J.K. Rowling's novels to screen for the first time.
In the original film series, British comedian Rik Mayall was cast as Peeves but removed due to time constraints, leaving fans disappointed by the character's absence from theaters.
Serafinowicz brings extensive voice and live-action experience, having recently appeared in last year's How to Train Your Dragon and voiced Darth Maul in "Star Wars: Episode I – The Phantom Menace."
Francesca Gardiner writes and executive produces the HBO series, which aims to "go deeper" into source material than the films, starring Dominic McLaughlin as Harry Potter with supporting cast Arabella Stanton and Alastair Stout.
Set to launch this December on HBO and HBO Max, the series features John Lithgow as Albus Dumbledore and Nick Frost as Rubeus Hagrid, with production underway for the multi-season adaptation covering all seven novels.
Good news for all fans of the Harry Potter book series who missed the character of the cheeky and mischievous Hogwarts ghost, the Rogue One, in the film adaptations. In the series, he will be played by British actor Peter Serafinowicz.
