Beau Starr Dies: Actor From ‘Halloween’ Films & ‘Goodfellas’ Was 81
TMZ said the character actor died of natural causes at his Vancouver home, and he was known for roles in Halloween and Goodfellas.
Actor Beau Starr, known for his roles in Halloween 4, Halloween 5, and Martin Scorsese's Goodfellas, has died at age 81. His younger brother, Mike Starr, confirmed the actor passed away peacefully of natural causes on April 24 in Vancouver.
Born in Queens, New York, in 1944, Starr initially pursued professional athletics before transitioning to acting. He played on the New York Jets practice squad for three seasons and completed two seasons with the Canadian Football League's Montreal Alouettes and Hamilton Tiger-Cats.
Starr gained recognition for playing Sheriff Ben Meeker in Halloween 4 and Halloween 5, while also starring as Lieutenant Harding Welsh in the crime comedy Due South. He additionally appeared in Martin Scorsese's 1990 mob classic Goodfellas as the abusive father of Henry Hill.
Beyond major credits, Starr made guest appearances on hit series including Knight Rider, The A-Team, and MacGyver. Christopher Serrone, who played young Henry Hill opposite Starr in Goodfellas, paid tribute on Saturday, writing that the actor "enjoyed a rich meaningful life."
Mike Starr, who is also an actor, described his late brother as "very unique and special." Starr's career spanned decades, beginning with his 1982 big-screen debut in Hanky Panky alongside Gilda Radner and Gene Wilder.
