Nearly half of porn users are still seeing porn with no age checks, says survey
Nearly 45% of UK porn users accessed sites without age checks since last summer, raising concerns of exposure to harmful or illegal content, charities said.
- The Lucy Faithfull Foundation found nearly 45 per cent of UK porn users visited sites without age verification checks in a poll of more than 3,700 Britons under the Online Safety Act.
- Last month, Ofcom reported visits dropped sharply from 25 July when HEAA enforcement began, while VPN users more than doubled from about 650,000 to over 1.4 million in mid-August 2025.
- Vicky Young warned unregulated sites risk becoming a pathway to indecent images, with advisers reporting escalation from legal adult porn to more extreme or illegal content.
- The poll found 39 per cent of visitors to unregulated sites watched uncomfortable content and 40 per cent were deterred, while nearly 47 per cent reduced how much they watch.
- The Foundation urged, `age verification is vital to protect children` and supported confidential help via Stop It Now at 0808 1000 900.
