The Roads and Highways Directorate (ŘSD) completely opened the 3.2-kilometer-long western bypass of Olomouc on Thursday. Cars have been driving on the new section of the D35 highway at a reduced speed in one lane in each direction since the end of July, but normal highway traffic is now starting. The bypass should significantly ease transit traffic and the surrounding municipalities.
The Roads and Highways Directorate (ŘSD) opened the last part of the western highway bypass of Olomouc about five months ahead of schedule. The new section of the D35 between Křelov and Slavonín is 3.2 kilometers long and is intended to divert transit traffic from Olomouc. Construction of the last part of the bypass began last February and required an investment of 903 million crowns excluding VAT.
