On Friday the Bundestag overturned the heating law of the traffic light government – to the displeasure of the opposition. Now the Greens are asking the Federal Presidential Office for assistance.
The Bundestag voted in favour of the Federal Government's Act on the Modernisation of Buildings. 322 MEPs voted against the amendment. 272 MEPs voted against. Central regulations of the old heating law are thus amended. Subsequently, the Federal Council also voted in favour of the new regulation.
In 2023, the SPD, together with the FDP and the Greens, decided on a stricter "heating law" – in 2026, it dissipated it. In the SPD faction, this makes members of parliament unhappy. Nevertheless, they voted for the new heating law – for the sake of coalition peace.
