Guillermo Del Toro to Be Given BFI Fellowship
Del Toro will be honored for his artistic contributions with masterclasses, a retrospective, and a film season, including a 4K re-release of his debut Cronos, the BFI said.

- The celebration will include a public career conversation, a retrospective and a curated film season at BFI Southbank, with del Toro delivering masterclasses to BFI Film Academy students and the BFI re-releasing Cronos remastered in 4K in May.
- Having won three Oscars, Guillermo del Toro now joins past BFI Fellows including David Lean, Bette Davis, Martin Scorsese and Tom Cruise.

Guillermo del Toro to be given BFI Fellowship
Frankenstein director Guillermo del Toro will be recognised for his "extraordinary contribution to film and the distinctive artistry that runs through his work" when he is given the British Film Institute's highest honour – the BFI Fellowship.
The British Film Institute (BFI) announced that the Mexican director Guillermo del Toro will receive in May 2026 his highest distinction, the BFI Fellowship, in recognition of a trajectory that has left a mark on both animation and real action. The organization stressed that the award celebrates “his extraordinary contribution to cinema and distinctive art” present in all his works, made in both Spanish and English.
