West Virginia National Guard member who survived DC shooting is slowly healing, Governor Morrisey says

Andrew Wolfe, injured in a Washington, D.C. ambush, is showing signs of recovery while his family and community continue to support him, Gov. Morrisey said.

  • Patrick Morrisey said Friday that Andrew Wolfe is slowly healing after last week's shooting in Washington, D.C., adding, "His parents report that his head wound is slowly healing and that he's beginning to 'look more like himself,'".
  • The ambush on Nov. 26 occurred at a subway station three blocks from the White House, where Army Spc. Sarah Beckstrom died the following day and Wolfe was among more than 2,000 deployed troops.
  • Showing progress, Wolfe on Monday responded to a nurse with a thumbs-up and could move his toes, while Wolfe's family expects he will remain in acute care for two to three weeks.
  • The suspect, 29-year-old Afghan national Rahmanullah Lakanwal, was charged with murder, pleaded not guilty, and President Trump met Wolfe's family in the Oval Office, Trump said.
