Op Sindoor: Indian Govt Reveals Names of 6 Soldiers Who Died During Operation

The government has formally named six fallen personnel and inscribed them on the National War Memorial Roll of Honour.

  • The Indian government officially named six military personnel killed during Operation Sindoor on Friday, marking the first public acknowledgement of their identities. Their names were added to the Roll of Honour at the National War Memorial in New Delhi.
  • Launched in May 2025 as India's military response to the Pahalgam attack in Jammu and Kashmir, Operation Sindoor targeted terror-linked infrastructure in Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Kashmir. Military action ceased on May 10, 2025, after discussions between the Directors General of Military Operations of both countries.
  • The six honoured personnel are Subedar Major Pawan Kumar, Rifleman Sunil Kumar , Lance Naik Dinesh Kumar, Aviation Technician Mood Muralinaik, Havildar Sunil Kumar Singh, and Sergeant Surendra Kumar . Indian forces struck nine locations linked to Jaish-e-Mohammed and Lashkar-e-Taiba.
  • Their names are now permanently inscribed on Wall 3D of the National War Memorial under the 2025 section, formally published in the Roll of Honour. This recognition highlights sacrifices made by armed forces members during national security operations.
  • The Tyag Chakra at the National War Memorial comprises 16 granite walls bearing names of military personnel who have made the ultimate sacrifice since India's Independence. The six newly honoured personnel represent both the Indian Army and Indian Air Force, reflecting the multi-service nature of the operation.
