- Last month, ACIP's guidance changes and U.S. Health Secretary Robert F. Kennedy Jr.'s vaccine restrictions raised concerns, prompting the Pennsylvania Department of Health to expand trusted authorities.
- The order directs the Pennsylvania Department of Health to establish a safety-net program modeled on Vaccines for Children, launch pa.gov/vaccines, and form a Vaccine Education Workgroup.
- Shapiro framed the move as protecting families, saying `We don't want politicians who don't know best taking away our freedom to be able to be parents over our children and interrupt, or interfere, with the relationship with our doctors.'
- Pennsylvania Health Secretary Dr. Debra Bogen said the program will be in place for ACIP's next meeting, which is scheduled to begin later this month, and she will chair a working group meeting at least four times a year with insurer commitments through at least 2026.
