New Details Emerge About Death of Member of Popular 1990s Metal Band
Limp Bizkit will proceed with their Gringo Papi Tour starting in Mexico City on November 29, honoring Sam Rivers' legacy after his death from health complications.
- Sam Rivers, Limp Bizkit co-founder and bassist, was found nonresponsive in cardiac arrest on October 18, with no official cause of death disclosed at press time.
- Sam Rivers had long battled liver disease linked to excessive drinking, temporarily leaving Limp Bizkit in 2015 before receiving a liver transplant in 2017 and rejoining in 2018.
- Limp Bizkit paid tribute on Instagram, calling him the one and only Sam Rivers and announcing they had lost our brother, while frontman Fred Durst posted an emotional Monday tribute calling Rivers a legend.
- At press time the band planned to carry on with late 2025 Gringo Papi South American tour dates, resuming Nov. 29 in Mexico City and winding down Dec. 20 in S�o Paulo.
- Rivers' final performances were at Reading & Leeds 2025 in August, including Leeds Festival on Aug. 24; earlier this year he played Levi's Stadium on June 20 wearing a 'Fuck Cancer' T-shirt.
