- The U.S. Attorney's Office accepted the case without verifying Crowder's identity and later directed social-media analysis as the FBI expanded its inquiry by late 2022.
- By late 2022 the bureau executed a Facebook search warrant and conducted physical surveillance of Crowder's home at least four times between 2021 and 2022, and the investigation remained open until June 2023.
- Mark Crowder testified that operational conflicts arose inside the federal air marshal service, including coordinating surveillance while he was on flights, and he warned political priorities diverted resources and caused a "weaponization" of federal law enforcement.
- DHS said in a June 5 press release that internal reviews found the Quiet Skies program was applied inconsistently and used politically, costing taxpayers roughly $200 million annually.
